The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Division of Emergency Communication Networks (DECN) will be sponsoring the first annual Minnesota Public Safety Interoperable Communications Conference April 28-30, 2010.
Director Chris Essid of the US Department of Homeland Security Office of Electronic Communications is the invited Keynote speaker. We also have confirmation that the Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety will speak at the conference. DECN is also inviting representatives of adjoining states and Canada as speakers.
The registration fee will be $125 per person, however all those who are sponsored by their respective Radio Board Regions will receive a discounted rate of only $50 – DECN will cover the remaining $75. “Sponsorship” by the RRBs does not require those boards to pay the registration fees, but rather to indicate/authenticate that participants are from your region.
Four meals will be included in this registration fee. Attendees will be responsible for travel, lodging, other meals and associated expenses. Many public safety grant-based training funds may be used to pay for these expenses.
Conference planning is still underway, but the location will be the St. Cloud area.
DECN is working to finalize the agenda and speakers, and to select a provider to manage conference registration. A conference agenda and information about how to register will be distributed as soon as possible.
For the moment please hold open April 28-30 in your calendar to attend this first Minnesota statewide public safety interoperable communications conference, and watch for additional information to come.
