2002 FIRE Act Grant PRELIMINARY Results

Caution: These numbers are absolutely preliminary and are subject to modification as the database is tweaked. We will be providing a more detailed analysis later this week. But here's where we are right now (these numbers do not reflect the paper applications, only on-line apps):

Total started applications in the system: 26,907
Total submitted applications in the system: 19,537
Total applications withdrawn by applicants : 634
Total in progress applications that were not submitted: 6,736
Total Dollars Requested $2.209 Billion
Total Fed Dollars Requested $1.924 Billion

The bulk of the difference between last year's $3.0 Billion and this year's $2.2 Billion is the number of vehicle requests. This year we received 7,126 vehicle requests versus over 11,000 last year. Using the average vehicle request this year of $177,000, a drop of 4,000 vehicle requests would account for about a $700 Million drop in total requests.

As soon as we get the Minnesota numbers, which will not be until late next week, we will provide the information here.
