September 27 & 28 2008 - NSWFA 2nd Annual Weekend Conference

North Star Women's Firefighter Weekend Conference are almost complete. The conference will be held Saturday, September 27th and Sunday, September 28th. Once again, the classes will be held at the South Metro Public Safety Training Facility in Edina. Some of the classes we have confirmed are:

  • Fitness & Nutrition
  • Public Information Officer
  • Public Education
  • Ethics for the Fire Service (Presented by Chad Weinstein, Director, Hill Center for Ethical Business Leadership)
  • Arson Investigations (Presented by Sean McKenna, Arson Investigator, Minneapolis Police Department)

We will also be adding some hands-on classes for both officers and firefighters.

Rapid Intervention Teams are utilized in all fire/rescue emergencies for the safety of all response personnel. Learn how to implement OSHA and NFPA 1500 guidelines for your RIT Team. We will also provide an overview of ‘On Deck,’ a resource management tool for firefighter safety.

FireSTAR is a collaboration between the Continuing Education Departments of St. Cloud Technical College, Alexandria Technical College, and Ridgewater College. The fire training coordinators at these colleges have joined together to offer specialized training sessions in the fields of firefighting and rescue.
